This course in Business Fundamentals provides instruction in basic business skills and knowledge related to economic fundamentals, management, communications, finance, human relations, career development, ethics, and business etiquette.  Successful completion of the Business Fundamentals course may be used as a half credit toward an economic graduation requirement.

The 2nd year of this program is Marketing which provides instruction in basic marketing skills. It provides a foundation of skills and knowledge related to basic principles of marketing, related economic fundamentals, marketing planning, and sales and distribution. Instruction is also provided on specialized topics related to fashion marketing, international marketing, and sports, special events, and entertainment marketing.

In order for students to be able to experience success, the following student prerequisites are in place:

        1.    C or higher in English (the previous year)
        2.    C or higher in Pre-Algebra
        3.    CTC approved application
or
        CTC approved application and TABE Reading Score (eighth grade or higher)

Course Credit: 2 Carnegie Credits per year.

Course Description: Business Fundamentals

This year-long course begins with an introduction to business and marketing fundaments, communication and interpersonal skills, and professional development for continued education, training, and careers in business management. Major topics of study in this course are economics, business, management, and entrepreneurship, business law, and personal finance. Participation in student organizations is ongoing. Students will develop skills toward meeting requirements for the Microsoft Project Skill Standards for Microsoft Office Specialist Certification.
