To The High School Students and Parents of Coldwater

August 5, 2016

To The High School Students and Parents of Coldwater,

This week someone has used social media to put out false information about students that are receiving legal transfers, from Coldwater, in order to play sports at the other two high schools in the county.  The person copied a page from the MHSAA Manual that has a regulation that does not have anything to do with the situation at Coldwater.

This morning I spoke with Mr. Don Hinton, Director of the MHSAA and he agreed with what I already knew.  Since Coldwater is not offering ANY sports for this year, any student qualifying and being granted a transfer within the county according to the proposed zone lines, WOULD BE IMMEDIATELY ELIGIBLE TO PLAY FOR THE SCHOOL THEY HAVE BEEN TRANSFERRED TOO!  He was able to inform me as to the person from Coldwater calling to get the SAME information that I am telling you.  SO at least one other person knows the truth.

It is very unfortunate that anyone would use false information to try and discourage parents from allowing their students to participate in athletics.

Respectfully,

Daryl J Scoggin, Ed.D.

Superintendent of Education

Tate County Schools
