My name is Mrs. Monica Jones and I am the Special Education Chair for East Tate Elementary. I teach Kindergarten, 1st & 2nd grades Special Education. The 2022-2023 school year starts my 16th year of teaching and I have worked with children at many age levels. I am confident my experience and background will provide your child with a positive educational experience. I want to get to know your child and want them to have the opportunity to know a bit about me as well.
I am from Vardaman, MS and a graduate of Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, AR. I enjoy being outdoors, doing crafts, gardening and ‘do it yourself’ projects. I’m married to Shannon Jones, an attorney in Memphis. We have 4 children and 2 grandchildren – Justin, Haley, Paul and Lanier live in TN; Will, a Stephen D. Lee honor graduate of Mississippi State and 4th year medical student at UMMC, Jackson; Sadie a graduate of Journey HSTP, lives in Oxford and works at Dominos and Canon, a 10th grade student at Magnolia Heights. We attend Lifepoint Church in Senatobia.
One of my jobs as a teacher is to help your child discover his or her individuality and work alongside with them to maximize it. I believe in hands-on experiences, learning creatively and learning through play. I am really looking forward to another fun-filled educational year.
If you have any questions, concerns or any information that I would need to know about your child, please feel free to contact me. No matter how large or small, if it will affect your child’s daily routine, I would like to know. This will help your child, the regular education teacher and I have a more productive year.
I’m delighted to be your child’s teacher and look forward to a great year!!
